Confidentiality

Note: this page contains only an excerpt or summary of University policy. For more information, please see the complete Policy on Sexual and Discriminatory Harassment (PDF).

To the extent possible, the University will make a reasonable effort to conduct all investigations and proceedings related to sexual or discriminatory harassment allegations in a manner that will protect the confidentiality and privacy interests of all parties. Examples of situations where confidentiality cannot be maintained include circumstances where the University is required by law to disclose information, when disclosure is warranted by the University in order to protect the rights of others, or in order to conduct a complete and thorough investigation. In addition to these efforts by the University, all parties to the alleged complaint should treat the matter under investigation with discretion and respect for the reputation of all parties involved.
